Evergreen Country Club – 89
Finally…things are starting to click for me. Went to Evergreen Country Club on Monday, July 19th and shot a 89. It’s been a while since I’ve broken 90. It feels good. Paid $50 for the round because my buddy belongs to Piedmont and they had a tournament that day, so they sent him to this place. It’s an old style golf course, with bunker lined holes, long open fairways, and lined with old houses along the fairways.
I didn’t lose any balls, which was huge and I just tried to play smart the entire round. 35 putts, 3 fairways, and 6 greens. Three fairways is not good, so I definitely need to work on my driver. Off the top of my head, I can think of several places where I made some dumb mistakes which costed me a couple of shots. Not to mention that I had a 2 three putts, and a couple of errant sand shots. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. That’s golf for you.
The one thing that I “fixed” is the lateral shifting, versus turning. With the turn, all I have to do is go up, then come straight back down with my swing. Less timing, and more focusing on my shot. God it feels good.
My handicap is officially a 14.8 right now and moving lower by the round.
