Raspberry Falls Golf Academy
I went to the Raspberry Falls Golf Academy on Thursday for a 30 minute “game evaluation”. I met with Lisa Deeb up there. I showed her my swing and sure enough, the first shot I hit was money, the second pulled left, and the third was a shank to the right. Exactly like my game on the course.
The good news is that she took some videos of my swing from the front and down the line. Immediately she recognized that I wasn’t using my “big muscles” to swing. When she showed me the video, it was evident that I was using my arms only. No shoulder turn/waist turn.
Of all of the videos that I’ve recorded of myself with my iPhone 3GS, I’ve only recorded the down-the-line shots. Everything looked okay in the down-the-line videos. When I saw the front-on videos, it was clear to me that I had to turn instead of laterally shift.
Here’s a video of what I mean:
Anyways, the results are astonishing. For me, at least. No more shifting and more power in my shots.
Actually, I just looked at my swing and it looks like I’m still shifting…a lot. Here’s me vs. Ben Crane.
Two things. 1) More turn, less shift and 2) Hands first, then club lags. Looks like I’m hitting on the upswing instead of the downswing. Two things I need to work on, at the range.
