Twin Lakes – Lakes Course – 91

Played a lot better this time around.  Good enough that I actually kept score.  I still had some very errant drives, but everything else was decent.  I shot a 49 on the front 9 and 42 on the back nine.  I was able to get out of the bunkers much better than the first two rounds.  My putting was better.  And my irons were better.  Third round of the year; there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

One thing that I did was slow down my downswing.  I was going full force before and it was just too hard to get my clubhead back to square on impact, so my ball was going everywhere.  I’m just learning to coil and smooth it out now.  Also, on my chips and bunker play, I opened my stance a little bit and moved the ball further back towards my right foot, so that I get the ball first.  It’s helped a ton.  I need to put some work in at the range before I can really start to shoot better.

Unfortunately, it’s still be cold and rainy over here, so I can’t really hit the range for as much work as I’d like to put in.  I’m playing at Westfields tomorrow.  It’ll be my first round there in a long time.  We’ll see how that goes.  They have a pretty nice practice facility there, so I’m gonna try to show up a little early to put some work in.
